Hi Julie,

I don't know much about a CVS, as I have only read about them. What I did read is that they allow you to determine the sex of the baby sooner than an amnio. I believe it is done at about 10 weeks.

An amnio, I believe, is done at about 15-16 weeks. The rate of misscarraige between the two is not huge but that it is possible that a CVS would be a bit riskier.

If and when my time comes to try again for another little one, I would choose a CVS.  I'm not actually pregnant at this time, so I can't tell you if my mind would change but I think I'm 97% sure that I would do a CVS instead of an amnio. I would want to know as soon as possible if I can stop the dex. I wouldn't want to keep treating something that didn't need to be treated! I know that the dex is not supposed to harm the baby without CAH but I would feel  more comfortable stopping it sooner!

Again, it is what you feel you need to do. Those were just my opinions.

As far as the dex and your ob being gone, I would call the Dr. who is replacing him for the time. I would start taking the dex immediately! Don't wait. You can switch back to your regular OB when he gets back.  Also, maybe you should ask your daughters endo what she thinks! Just a thought.  I think whatever you do you need to start the dex ASAP!

Good luck and keep us posted.

Sandra
