Re: To Kelly Leight: re CAH consensus conference
2/3/02 3:42 PM

Dear Carol and all,

I called the chair of the event, Dr. Walter Miller,  and tried to get an invitation, but was very nicely told that it was by invitation only and that so many physicians wanted to come, but they were keeping it to the select group. He then invited me to submit a memo of parental concerns, which I sent off to him last week. He told me he would use it in determining the agenda and subject matter for the small group workshops. The purpose is to try to come up with consensus guidelines for treatment of CAH given the disagreement in treatment protocols within the field. I have asked Dr. Miller twice for the date and guest list, but he has not responded yet. Don't worry, I don't give up easily!

I know that the following doctors/professional are invited because I have spoken to them--of course, Dr. Miller, UCSF (peds endo and biochemist doing research on cortisol pathways and synthesis); Dr. Garry Warne of Melbourne, AU, peds endo; Dr. Sheri Berenbaum, U. Pittsburgh, psychologist; Dr. Maria New, Cornell -NY Presbyterian Hospital, peds endo; Dr. Brad Therrell, the director of the National Newborn Screening/ Genetics Resource Center, Austin, TX; and I was told that Phyllis Speiser, peds endo, North Shore Med Center, on Long Island, NY is the co-chair of the conference, but I have not confirmed this. I will post the list if (when) I get it.

Carol, can you email me off the board? I want to tell you something concerning our earlier correspondence. Things are changing.

Best,

Kelly
