LauraI just wanted to see if anyone else increases their childs Cortef (or cortisone) when they do any kind of sports that seems to drain their energies. My daughter has CAH due to the 21 hydroxylase def. (and is a salt waster), age 4 and a half . Last check her levels were good. I started her in a beginner swimming lessons. She said the pool was really cold. She was shivering bad when she got out. The class is about a half hour long. That is a lot for a 4 year old. Last week after her first class she was really drained. After we came home she ate something and then layed on the couch for an hour. This is NOT my daughter. The rest did her wonders but I was still concerned how drained she was. I know a lot of parents increase their dose when they play soccer and other outdoor sports. I did not think of increasing her meds because she was not in intense heat, it was just indoor swimming. This week I gave her a little less than a quarter more of her pill to see how she would feel after her class. She really seemed perky this time. Not at all tired. Does anyone else increase their childs meds when they do any kind of exercise, in heat or out of heat? Thanks.
