Hi Laura, How is the whole school thing going for you? Have you conquered your fears of sending your daughter out into the world yet? It wasn't so long ago that it was ME in your shoes remember? My son is doing fine and, with a few odd fever spikes here and there, he seems to recover quickly and stay well in general. (He does seem to crash very quickly though). We have the YWCA come to our house each year and they give our kids swimming lessons in our pool. They are out there from the minute they get up in the morning until they get out for a shower and then it's right off to bed for them. Believe it or not, swimming takes a lot out of a kid even if it is only for a half an hour. When I first let my daughter go in the pool (way back when), she would come out and fall asleep almost immediately. Now she can stay all day and sleeps like a rock. The doctor said it is the most perfect form of excercise and that it utilizes every single muscle in the body with little resistance. The long and short of it is that I have not (yet) noticed a difference between how my non-CAH daughter reacts to swimming as opposed to my SWCAH son - UNLESS there is severe sweating involved. then, that's a whole different story. Anyway, now that I've totally confused the issue, I stand by my old addage of "use your gut (or maternal) instincts". If you feel she needs extra meds and reacts more favorably afterward then I can see no harm in it. Just keep in mind that the reaction you described is no different than that of a non-CAH child just starting out. Let us know how you make out will ya?(:>)LynnT
