We also have Cigna.

We've been battling back and forth denial after denial and appeal after appeal letter.  It does get better eventually.  I had to write several letters though and jump through their little hoops.  We use their mail order service too.  I was amazed to see that 3 mos. worth of Jake's Florinef cost almost $90!!!  Our endocrinologist told me to be persistant with them (Cigna).  He said "squeaky wheel always gets the grease".

At least they assigned us a case manager for Savannah at birth.  Did Ginny get a case manager also?  She's there to make sure we're satisfied with Savannah's care.  Since Jake was not diagnosed at birth he doesn't get one.  Now ask me if that's fair.  Newborn screening programs in all 50 states would be the only quick fix to that.  HMO's have far too much power here.  I did not like explaining CAH to a minimum wage worker who was adding Savannah to the policy as "Newborn Hayton".  There was just such a lack of empathy.  "but ma'm I'm sorry we can't add your infant to the policy until you tell us if the baby is a boy or a girl, don't you even have a hunch?"  Give me your supervisor please!!!

HMO's stink!
