Re: Re: Re: (To Kay) How has CAH affected your Lives?

I totally forgot about that EXCELLENT point you made about the newborn screening awareness now!!! I too am SO aware of the need for NBS for CAH and all other diseases. Diseases I am now familiar with just by working with different parents on NBS. Isn't that amazing just how many are out there that are NOT screened for? I am in Ohio and there are some WONDERFUL women that are working getting NBS for CAH presently. So frustrating. It is sad that money seems to be the MAIN deciding factor. You would think it was saving lives. My daughter almost died a week after her birth. She has SWCAH. I thought it was colic. She did not sleep for DAYS and just cried. She finally fell into a deep sleep. I could have easily cancelled her Ped. appointment and got the much needed sleep. Thank GOD I did not. That afternoon she was placed into NICU to fight for her life. I shudder to think of what could have been if........   I place that energy into trying to get NBS for CAH here. It is the only way of coping with that "could have been feeling". I have read of a mother's anguish on here last year. Her story was so similar to mine, but the ending was not the same. She lost her newborn girl. So sad.
