Dear Lisa:

Congratulations!  To put your mind at rest, I have four children.  #1 has is a 12 1/2 year old girl with SWCAH and I had CVS done with the following three kids.  I took dex with each one of them until the results of the CAH testing came back.  #2 is a girl.  She is a carrier, so as soon as we found out, my doctor had me wean off the dex.  No problems.  # 3 is a boy carrier, so weaned off again.  #4 is a boy, unaffected.  Weaned off again.  I really had no problems-but do wean off.  The great side effects of the dex were that the hormone problems that I was having for years with irregular periods and inability to get pregnant were certainly solved.  I have been regular ever since and have two surprise boys to show for it.

Relax during the procedure.  We had a great doctor who let us watch everything on the video monitor.  He was very careful and we said lots of prayers.  We have a deep relationship with Jesus, so put it in His hands to guide the doctor's.  The only thing that surprised me with the first time was that when the needle went through my abdominal muscle wall, my legs were crossed and the top one jumped. Just felt a little weird.  Didn't bother me the next two times, because I expected it.
