Have you heard of using Emla cream for the blood draws?  It is a numbing cream you can use and it helps tremendously with the blood draws.  My 3 year old daughter does great now that she knows mommy put "magic cream" on her arm.  She doesn't even flinch or cry when the needle goes in, it makes for a very enjoyable and quick blood draw.  We got the prescription for the Emla cream from my daughter's endo.
