AdinaHThis is very important. One of the urologists we saw in town was the worst doctor we'd ever been to, and he was unrated. We filled it out appropriately. What a shame if other parents fell into the same trap we did with him. What he wanted to do to our daughter was horrific and archaic. To top it all off we waited over an hour and a half to see him and he casually walked out for fifteen minutes during the middle of the appointment. He glanced over our child's file in front of us, and mentioned he didn't have time to look at it previously (we booked our appointment a month and a half in advance). He made my husband over an hour late for work. By the time we left there, we had been there for three hours and fifteen minutes.
When our pediatrician wrote a letter to insurance to help us seek a different doctor, the urologist called him during business hours while he had patients to see, and proceded to argue with him for an hour about our daughter. He was rude to our pediatrician, and lied to us about the number of CAH patients he had seen, changing it mid conversation, and then saying..."well, no it was my partner who has seen that many". Our pediatrician was unwavering in his opinion and had to end the phone call abruptly (meaning he finally ended up hanging up on him). The urologist then called our insurance company's director also a doctor, and complained that we were being irrational and unreasonable about seeking care elsewhere. It was a mean and hurtful thing to do. As a result of this disaster... outraged, we shopped around for the nation's leading pediatric urologists. We conducted twelve telephone interviews. Four appeals letters, and two doctor letters later we got the urologist we wanted... out of state. Please avoid problems like this for other parents. Rate those doctors, and if you've had a bad experience like us, then say so on the WebMD. If parents like us didn't rate him, then parents like you could end up with THAT doctor.
Most of the doctors we see even in Arizona didn't have ratings either. Even Dr. New had very little rating information, and considering the amount of patients she's seen that's odd. I think most people just don't know about this service. Good or bad, please take the time to rate all your children's doctors. It's very important and only takes about 2 minutes.
Thanks,
Adina
