RosalieHi Stacey,
I am an 'oldie' on this board, and I have had leg discomfort of two different types.
1) When I was younger I would get dreadful aches in my legs and knees. There is even a reference in my early medical notes complaining of these leg aches, and states "seems to be in the bone". An xray was done of the 'tibial tuberosities' but "no abnormality of epiphyses of tibial tuberosities present". As is often the way with doctors, when no abnormality is found the conclusion seems to be that no problem exists. But to me this pain continued until adulthood with no resolution. It was most unpleasant.
2) The second problem of leg discomfort are muscle cramps, mainly in the calf but can also occur in the foot. These are mainly for me, nocturnal (night time), and I believe these can be a side effect of steroid treatment. I am currently trying quinine for these, just the dose found in Indian Tonic water. This seems to be helping, I alternately also take some homeopathic 'magnesium phosphate'.
These two types of leg discomfort are distinctly different from each other. If you can isolate which one is causing the problem, it would be good. My bet is that it is the first type, the 'in the bone' and knee type. I would suggest that the only way to get any assistance for these pains for your daughter, in the absence of medical diagnosis, is to go to a naturopath. They are more attuned to dealing with those niggly problems that can make life uncomfortable. In my experience they don't just dismiss a problem as not important enough.
Hope this is helpful
Rosalie
