Seeking an objective point of view/ Endo experience

Hello Everyone:

I recently switched endocrinologist due to insurance reasons. I'd like to share my experience with you all.

Everything was going very well with the new endo. I started to tell him about the clitorectomy and vaginoplasty that I had done. Right after I told him about the clitorectomy and was starting to go on about the vaginoplasty. He interupts me and says, " Not to minimized what you have been telling me but do you smoke ?" I say "No" this is the way I talk. I was thinking that he was wondering why my voice was so raspy. He said," No, I smell a slight smell of smoke and I'm very sensitive to it, I could end up with a headache all day."

Here I am telling this Endo about the clitorectomy and vaginoplasty that were done to me. A very hard subject to talk about anyway and this Endo was more concerned with his own issues. I was so unglued that I could barely tell him about the third surgery when I was 21. I do work in a exclusive club down by the ocean and ......yes....they do smoke in the bar area. I carry a leather purse that must keep the smell of smoke on it. Am I being to sensitive about all of this ? I realize that the Endo has a right to tell me that smoke bothers him but the fact that he had to tell me this right in the middle of when I was telling him about the surgeries causes some concern for me.  I could be over reacting, but it seems like he could of told me that the smoke bothered him at the end of the examination and not when I was telling him about the surgeries. Am I being too sensitive, I realize that life isn't perfect but my gosh ...you think he could of been a little more tactful during the whole situation.

Thanks,

Aimee
