CarolDear Michelle,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis. I can understand feeling, sometimes, that the cure may be worse than the condition itself. At the same time, I also feel that many of the unpleasant side effects of steroid medications can be avoided with a good doctor who is paying attention. I also feel that timing of doses, and taking the right amount for your body, has a lot to do with the type of side effects one sees.
I was interested in what you said about doing much better on a lower dose of dex taken in the morning, vs. when you were taking the higher dose, split between morning and evening. How did your bloodtest results differ, doing things these two different ways? I am very interested in knowing if it has been possible to achieve the same degree of control, with a smaller dose of medication, just by moving around the timing of the doses.
I have a son who is 8 1/2, and he has been on dex for about 2 1/2 years. He takes the dex once in the morning, and for the most part, he has done very well on that regime...very few side effects at all.
