Dwayne, Since your wife has CAH, your child will, at a minimum, be a CAH carrier. If you are a CAH carrier, then you will have a 50-50 chance of passing on the CAH gene. Which really means, your child has a 50-50 chance of having CAH. If both parents are carriers, then the wife has the option of taking Dex during the pregnancy to help the CAH girl. Once the pregnancy is far enough along to determine the sex and CAH of the child, the Dex treatments can be stopped as appropriate. Since your wife has CAH, a doctor would need to answer how her treatment would vary if you are a carrier. Another advantage of knowing if you are a carrier is that you would know to test the baby. Then if the baby has CAH treatment can begin at birth -- instead of waiting for a crisis. It appears that it would/could be beneficial to know if you are a carrier. Good luck!JanetD
