Hi Sandra-
It is kind of confusing to me too but this is how it went: Her first PKU test came back abnormal at birth. She had no signs or symptoms of anything other than a healthy baby. When it came back abnormal, they did another test thinking that the bloodwork had just gotten messed up. It came back abnormal. So then we went to Children's Hospital of Birmingham to see an endo and have the direct testing done. That is when they found out that her 17 OHP level was really high, (not sure of what they were), but they put her on Cortef then three times a day and her levels have been good every since then with only one adrenal crisis on her 5th birthday when she got the flu. I asked her endo since she had no signs or symptoms of CAH when she was born what type did she have and she told me non-classical CAH, so that's what I go by. It's kind of confusing. We still do everything the same with stress doses, injections, medic alert, (the whole nine yards). We were very lucky I guess. Let me know if I have confused you, sometimes I confuse myself. Thanks. Talk to you soon.
