Danny CarltonWell, my host says they’ll charge $200 to install the script fro the spellchecker. Right.
I’ve been searching on and off through the day. I found a few demos that do a nice job. One that cost $169. (Oh, in case you’re wondering, I don’t plan on spending anything for one, since I should be able to write one) I could piggy back off of these demos (access them via a script with input that makes them think it’s from the demo page, then process it and return it here) but that wouldn’t be ethical, a fun challenge, yes, but not a real option.
Meanwhile I’ll keep looking.
I am getting more info on the type of programming it takes to build a spellchecker, and it’s much more complicated than I thought, or at least the approach most programmers take. I have on many occasions been able to discover new ways of doing things that few people think of. It comes from my stubbornness that will sometimes drive me to reinvent the wheel, and it seems there are quite a few wheels out there that need reinventing. Especially when it comes to computers and information technology.
