PamelaJoanne-I went through the same thing with our IM prescription. Our endo has always prescribed the Hydrocortone phosphate for injections. I never used the solucortef. I spent a day looking for the Hydrocortone, when my pharmacist said it was on indefinite backorder from Merck. It just so happens our endo was away and the oncall endo didn’t want to prescribe a "new medication" for an unknown patient. I finally had to plead with the oncall to phone in the solucortef. Merck’s rep said not enough demand for the Hydrocortone. This I can understand because there is an alternative. But I don’t understand what is going on with the 5mg Cortef either. Merck only makes a 10mg tab. What can we do about our children’s lifesaving meds? Certainly we are all getting stressed by learning that these meds are on backorder. Maybe we should all put in calls to Merck and Upjohn.
