CindyMy 2 1/2 year old son with CAH definitely throws much bigger tantrums than my older son who does not have CAH. When Marcus is mad he loves to throw things and knock things over. The noisier the better. However, I don’t think his tantrums are related to undersuppression because he has been oversuppressed most of his life. Also, morning is usually his happiest time of day.
Awhile back, someone, I think it was Shaun, posted a link to an article on the Addison’s Message Board that talked about low blood sugar in the morning and the importance of eating something high in protein in the morning to avoid feeling cranky and rundown. I printed out a copy so I’ll have to look for it and see what it said exactly. Maybe if you could get some breakfast in her fast she would do better. But if she’s anything like Marcus, if you try to feed her when she’s in a mood you’ll have scrambled eggs all over your kitchen!
I’m sure a lot of it does have to do with having a new baby sister. My older son was a mess for quite awhile after Marcus was born. They are so used to you being able to respond to their needs immediately and suddenly this new kid is hogging all the attention.
It sounds like you are handling it as well as possible. I can’t imagine how stressful those mornings must be for you. I agree with Geri, make sure you are getting some time for yourself! I think you deserve a day at the spa!!
Good luck!
