re: learning disabilities in CAH children

I’ve never seen of heard of any such thing being related to CAH, but all kids have different learning styles, and some government schools aren’t not able or willing to accomodate such variations. I know Jonathan, my 8 year-old is much more attuned to language and abstract concepts, while Benjamin, my 6 year-old has a better grasp of concrete/mathematical/spacial thinking.  Jonathan is the one with CAH, and according to the expectations should be the opposite since his androgen levels were so high at birth.

Thomas Sowell, a nationally syndicated columnist and professor of economics and George Mason University tells of how his mother worried that his younger brother would never be a brain surgeon because he didn’t learn to talk until he was four. And she was right, Dr. Sowell says, he’s now a heart surgeon.

Seven’s pretty young to be making any realistic assumptions about anyone’s intelligence level. Above all don’t let someone permanently classify him so they can get extra federal funds (happens all the time).
