Hi All,

I recently  called the Department of Health to find out if I could order the MMR seperately. I had been concerened about the rumors of autism and other problems with this vaccine. Also, the preservative Thymerasol (sp?) worried me.

I spoke with the lady in charge of the immunizations for children and she explained to me that the thymarasol is not used in the MMR because it would kill the properties of the vaccine. With that said she told us that thymerasol is not the same "mercury" that we have in the baby thermometers.  You know the one that can be dangerous if the thermometer falls and breaks.

There has not been any direct proof between autism and the MMR but it is hard not to be worried.
