KayMy daughter used to complain of her stomach hurting from time to time and would say things like, "I almost threw up". I would brush it off and tell her I was glad she didn’t!!!! Like your daughter she would go off and play and do all her normal stuff, so I figured she was ok and her stomach really didn’t hurt. What I didn’t realize until this year was that it was the beginning of a problem with reflux. Over time, reflux will get worse and worse until you get really sick. Kristin missed 2 weeks of school this year because it got so bad and we (us and the drs) couldn’t figure out what was going on. She is now on Prevacid once a day and doing much better. We have found that stress affects her digestive tract pretty quickly. The gastroenterologist says it’s that way with most people and wonders if her CAH plays a part in this since it affects your body’s ability to handle stress. It may just be a coincidence, but I have talked with a grandmother of a girl in Atlanta with CAH and her daughter has been having problems similar to Kristin and they were going to explore the possibility of it being reflux. She said it sounded exactly the same.
Like you, Danny, we have always told Kristin that it is very important to be truthful about how she feels. We used to tell her the story about the boy who cried wolf. Ginny may be making up stories about her stomach not feeling good, but it could also be something like reflux starting. I would watch her carefully. Good luck.
