In life, there is not always a perfect solution to everything.  When the problem was first brought to Upjohn’s attention, they could have issued a warning out with cortef prescriptions for parent’s to be on guard for symptoms the product is not working for their CAH child instead of covering up the problem (child’s inability to handle an illness, early puberty, etc). Personally, I like the cortef tablets better than the liquid suspension (easier to carry around, no sticky mess, no glass cortef bottles, less bulk and weight in my purse, not having to worry about keeping bottle from light or temperature matters).  Anyway, there are other hydrocortisone producers, one being hydrocortone in Canada, Merck company? (someone please correct me if I’m wrong).  And if there aren’t, someone will come in (like the company who has now taken over making florinef).
