Danny CarltonThere is a lot more known about the draw backs of not taking Dex when you’re carrying a baby girl. Linda took Dex with Ginny, and she was still somewhat virilized (slightly enlarged clitoris, fused labia). I have yet to hear anyone report any long term negative affects of Dex, but I’ve read post after post after post of women describing the long term negative affects of excess androgen exposure in utero.
We have a 6 year-old who doesn’t have CAH. Linda took Dex with him until the amnio showed no CAH. He’s fine. He’s actually fairly athletic, and is doing very well on his homeschool (he just began doing multiplication a week or so ago).
Ginny, 4, is also pretty healthy. She’s only had a few minor adrenal crises and is doing "Jump Start Kindergarten" on her computer. She’s also busy planning Barbie’s wedding to G.I. Joe.
I can’t say I can see any drawbacks to the Dex, but plenty to not taking it.
