I’m pregnant too with 2nd child...

Hi Jennifer,
Our 1st daughter Brooke (21 mths) was a preemie born w/Simple Virilizing CAH. She has very little virilization.

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant w/our 2nd child and my husband & I also decided against the dex treatment. The main reason we decided against it was because I feel strongly about not having any Amnio or CVS and feel confident just leaving things in Gods hands.

My daughter was born numerous medical problems including hydrocephalus and we feel that although CAH can be life-threatening we can certainly live with it, manage it, and learn to deal with whatever comes our way with our new child.

I also lost a son, my 1st pregnancy, at 24 weeks (had the amnio with that pregnancy), so I guess that just added to my decision not to have any invasive procedure with this pregnancy.

Certainly our decisions are based primarily on our personal experiences and it’s not that we’re not thinking about our unborn child’s future, it’s just that for us after losing 1 child, being faced with more serious medical diagnosis with Brooke, we feel it’s just best to leave things up to nature/God.

Just our feelings of course.

Feel free to e-mail me if you’d like a "pregnancy buddy".

Best of Luck!
Maureen
