From my above letter, I have some serious side effects of just having CAH with being as virilized as I was. I was wonder what are the serious side effects that a mother can have by taking DEX for the first couple of weeks ?
I take prednisone and my blood work is in the "normal" range but I still suffer the effects from it. Yet, if I have a child, she/he will have to take my medication too, it’s not like someone with CAH can stop.
Being female and born with excessive androgens is awful. I’ve had many experiences when I’ve been asked if I was male or female and one time I was even wearing a skirt. And all the doctors just wanting to take a peek at how everything is progressing in your genital area. We are just going to take a peek ! it’s never just a peek. Anon in the above posts was curious and basically begging to understand all this and willing to share her own life experiences of having CAH. Perhaps you parents don’t want to hear what someone with CAH feels about having CAH. That’s all it was, one persons view with having CAH.
In the above post, Roberta said that surgery is no big deal, I beg to differ on that one. No matter if you are lucky enough to find a good surgeon. Surgery does have effect and the results do have an effect later in life in many forms. For me surgery put a lot of doubt in my life about things people take for granted. I’ll continue anything about surgery on the contro page if anyone wants to.
Would like to see articles on the problems of Dex and someone without CAH pregnancy. This is all a learning experience for me. Of course, taking dex is all your choice no one said it wasn’t. You girls got so darn defensive about that and like anon no offense was meant.
GOOD LUCK,
Aimee
