The article in the CARES newsletter was in reference to a CAH pregnant woman on steriods.  Keep in mind the CAH woman would be taking a LARGE amount of steriods.  The dex treatment for the carrier (a woman that has the gene for CAH but does not have CAH) is a very low dose.  There is an article on Dr. Maria New web page about the dex treatment.  The dose for treatment of a non-CAH woman (carrier) is very low and very safe.  It is the large and long term dose that may cause problems.  Cortisol is a natural occurring chemistry in the blood.  Too much and not enough is the BALANCE.

AGAIN - ask Dr. Maria New or a genetic specialist (who will probably turn around and ask Dr. New anyway).

If you are planning another baby - get genetic blood work through Dr. New first.  And then refer to her for advice.  She is the expert in this area. She is known for genetic research in CAH.
