re: found out it is usual in treated individuals

I am 33 YO w/ CAH.  2 years ago I asked my endo if extreme moodiness (feeling like I had PMS constantly) could be related to the CAH, and she showed me the study from the New England Journal of Medicine about supplementing w/ DHEA in adrenal insufficient people.  She tested my DHEA levels and they were basically at zero.  DHEA is also produced by the adrenals so w/ adrenal insufficiency there is often not enough produced.  DHEA and cortisol balance each other out, DHEA can effect moods.  Once she put me on 50 mg DHEA (and reduced by hydrocortisone a little), I felt like a new person.  It was a very tangible improvement.

Read "Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom" by Christine Northrup for more on DHEA & cortisol.
