Hi Kevin!  I’m so sorry to hear that you are not faring well with the depression aspect of CAH.  It is not an uncommon complaint on this board.  Do you have a psychiatrist or at least someone who can help you through this tough time?  Did anything happen recently that caused you undue stress (aside from having a life threatening disorder (:>)) ?  How are your levels lately?  Don’t forget that dehydration can also become a problem in the warmer months of summer.  This can really mess up the electrolytes and/or glucose levels which, in turn,  can also cause  symptoms of depression if it goes on over time.   Low energy and shakiness are other signs that your body needs more fluids.

The good news is that there has been so much hype about depression and anxiety problems lately,  you can’t turn on the TV without seeing some new and improved treatment.  They’ve come a long way in how they address and treat depression these days.  Have you discussed  this subject  with your endo?  Perhaps s/he could reccomend some type of treatment that s/he has had good success with.

This is an aspect of CAH that seems relatively light on the research end of it.  Let’s face it, hormones are hormones and can cause tremendous mood swings which can lead to depression if left unchecked.

I wish you all the best of luck seeking help with this all too common problem.  I will keep you in my prayers.

Please come back and let us know how you are doing with all this.  This is a great board with many compassionate and supportive people who contribute.  There are also more links off of this board to other forms of information regarding CAH as well as other message boards.  Stay strong.(:>)
