Hi Kevin,

I am a mom of three boys. I am very sorry that you are having to deal with depression on top of the CAH, but there is hope. I have experienced depression and it is no fun. I can understand how frustrating it may seem. Unfortunately, no matter what somebody may say to try to make you feel better the point is you have to help yourself.  I understood that when I started feeling the depression hit me after the birth of my son. I sought help immediately. From what I have read, it is not so common for men to reach out for help. You are doing great by asking for it here. However, I hope that you also have the help of a counselor or a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, besides your hormone levels being off you could have a different type of imbalance that might need medication. If this is the case they you should at least try it. I mean it can only get better right!

You might have already gone to get help. If it hasn’t helped you, I would say to try a different doctor or a different treatment. Just like CAH, one treatment approach isn’t right for all.

As far as the weight issue. I can relate to that too! I think all women on this board probably could regardless of CAH. I think that you should talk to your endo if you haven’t already to find out how you could tailor your dose to help a little bit. Another thing, we are always too critical of ourselves. Especially when we are single. How overweight are you? Have you always had a weight issue? There are many places that you can go to get help with weight.. Weight Watchers being one of them. If you haven’t tried it, why not?

Please let us know how you are doing and what helps you get back to "normal".  As a mom of three boys I am always interested in what works in situations like these. My CAH son is only 1 year old but I am always thinking how I will be able to help him help himself.

Good luck,

Sandra
