How did the first doctor diagnose you? The gold standard is the ACTH stimulation test. In this test your blood is drawn, a drug is given (intravenously if I remember correctly) and then an hour later your blood is drawn again. This will give the doctor the information about if you do have CAH and what type you have.
If you are diagnosed with adult onset CAH, you can be treated with meds. Yes, you will need to take then for the rest of your life! But you will feel so much better!
CAH is not life altering. You will be able to live a normal healthy life. The most important things are to find a good endo who understands how to treat CAH and to educate yourself about CAH. There are lots of links on this website to information. I suggest you also check out http://www.caresfoundation.org/.
Good luck and keep us posted.
