I think newborn screening is one issue that cannot be accomplished at the individual level---it necessitates having a SYSTEM in place.  As important as identifying the children who are at-risk is having protocols in place to track, follow up, evaluate, and treat those children.

I did watch the proceedings and am proud that it is a Senator from my home state of CT who is the one to champion this issue. Proud, as well, that my son’s endocrinologist was one of the physicians who testified as an expert witness. I thought this was one of the most important points that he brought up.
