re: support on this board?

I’ve not bothered to block "Anne Marie" becasue using that name, she hasn’t caused any trouble. That’s the key. I know there are some people who left because of Val’s previous behavior, but obviously I won’t tolerate that, and as long as she behaves herself (which she has done so far) I see no reason to continue blocking her.

The motivations for posting on a board like this are many. Self need is generally primary, so you can’t really fault people for that. I’ve found the people on this board more than willing to answer questions and I really, really appreciate their willingness to do so. But when a question is something that only an adult with CAH can answer, then that limits the number of people who can answer. While the CAH adults here also have been very generous with their advice, there are fewer of them, so there’s less of a change that such a question would be answered. I’d love it if we had more CAH adults here, but for some reason too many other site keep describing this on as a parent’s only board (which I try to correct when I can).

I also can see how parents will find themselves initially alone in their battle with CAH, so therefore value the advice of others greatly, thus have a stronger desire to offer help. People with CAH would have been surrounded by people offering help (whether it was needed or not) and so may not have needed the support of others as critically as parents felt they needed it. While the CAH adults here have all been very helpful, the parent’s seem to be driven to offering the kind of help they had or wish they had.

Questions that parents can’t answer can be overlooked as the CAH adults may not see it or may not have an answer.
