Hi Janet,

I came across a good article a while ago, that may address some of your questions. Although it is a study focusing on girls and their likelihood of developing PCOS, I’m sure it can equally be relevant to boys.

From the journal, CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY, Volume 48(5) May 1998, pp555-560, entitled:

Exaggerated 17-hydroxyprogesterone response to short- term adrenal stimulation and evidence for CYP21 B gene point mutation in true precocious puberty.  Written by, Cisternino, Dondi, Martinetti, Lorini, Salvaneschi, Cuccia , and Severi (an Italian study).

Worth trying to find at your local medical or university library.

Hope you are getting some answers to your dilemma.
