MicheleBetween my two SWCAH children (ages 10 & 8) we have had 6 broken body parts (mostly fingers, 2 wrists and one foot). Sometimes I have stressed dosed and sometimes not. It really has depended on how the child reacted at the time of the event. When in doubt, I have doubled or tripled oral doses. Only once was it very serious and I learned from that event to always have injectible on hand. I didn’t have it then and wish I had. It was quite serious (my son went into shock) but thank God it turned out OK. I now have injectible at all times and haven’t had to use it!
I have been told by the endo that if it is one of those bad breaks when a bone must be reset, we must consult him and he’ll talk to the ortho doc and determine how much extra hydro is needed. Fortunately, we haven’t had any of those.
Good luck!
