LynnTHi Susan, Sorry to hear about Brayden’s thumb. You should know that they make a couple of different casts. The standard one and another that is made from a waterproof material. My neighbor’s daughter broke her arm falling from the swing right at the beginning of summer (sound familiar?). She had to ask specifically for this type (don’t know the formal name for it) as it is more expensive and she had to pay the additional charge out of pocket because the insurance agency wouldn’t pick up the difference. She said that it was well worth the $100. to be able to let her child swim, shower & bathe all without worrying about "melting" the cast away. The daughter said that the coolest thing was that it came in different neon colors.
She got a lot of attention and didn’t complain once.
I wish you good luck in dealing with this injury. It’s hard enough when it’s a child without CAH.......(:>)
