Great!!! Congrats on the pregnancy! I hope you get some answers soon.  My youngest is going to be 1 year old on 2 August - Anthony. He is fine and does not have CAH. I have two sons - ages 8 and 3 with salt wasting CAH.

I read in the PENS- says that there is a decreased synthesis of mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and incompete sex hormone synthesis due to decreased production of testosterone there may be incomplete masculinization of the male.  There also maybe adrenal inusfficiency secondary to decreased cortisol and salt-retaining hormones (aldosterone) production.  Females may have clitoromegaly and/or early development of pubic hair.  The deficiency occurs in both the adrenal glands and the testis or ovaries.

Decreased testosterone is just the opposite with Classical Salt Wasting - there is too much testosterone.

With all types of CAH the focus is on preventing excess androgen (male hormone or testosterone ) but is that true with BETA 3 and DECREASED PRODUCTION OF TESTOSTERONE.? The cortisol replacements in Classical CAH prevents the masculinization of the females (given to the mother and it passes to the baby) but do they give extra drugs for the deficiency in testis or ovaries for the BETA 3?  More testosterone so the male is not incomplete?  There can be surgery for the virilized female but what could they do for the under masculinized male? I can see the confusion!

Let us know what the doctors tell you! How many weeks are you? What is your due date - Dec, Jan, Feb or Mar?) I knew the sex at 10 weeks because I had CVS (chorionic vilus sampling) test done. It was scary but it turned out okay. And I knew the sex within 48 hours. You can’t rely on ultrasound because what if it there is masculinization of the female and under masulizination of the male?
