Anne-MarieI’m thinking more in terms of a Mother becoming ill during pregnancy and wondering if the baby in utero is covered if she does not have dex treatment? I don’t think that the above is a basis for a parent to NOT have pre natal treatment. If they are not going to have it, it would certainly be best to have the attitude that your taking the choice because you accept the baby in whatever circumstances that occur. It’s a tough one, and although any baby girl may not be virilised with this type of CAH, high levels of dhea are not really that good in either sex, it is something we have no clue about. Does a Mothers testosterone levels go up in pregancy normally?
Half the time, I don’t think these concerns are there for Doctors. They only care about masculainzation and nothing else before birth. What if this affects brain development or mental ability? Both sexes suffer there.
