BebeHi Roberta!
Dr New does not check DNA for 3-Beta at all. The Genetic con. told me that it’s going to be hard to find a lab that will do it because the new thing is that this type of CAH may not be genetic after all. She faxed some documents and explaining the whole thing. 3-beta may show now & be gone in 2 yrs and come back in another 5 & so on. She said that this type is very tricky. My insurance will cover the DNA tests 100%. So my husband and I are going to check him & I first. Then we’ll check my son. I’m taking him to a Ped. Endo next week and will discuss options with the Dr. My son had a very hard start in life and a long stay in the hospital. He is 3 and just these last few months the visits to the Dr have slow down. We used to go every week because he was born premature. I’m tired of needles and the crying. It’s not easy for me as a mother. But will do what the ped. endo says we had to do.
My Endo did all of the tests you mentioned. He is one of the 3 Drs that works at the office of Dr. Jellinger who was the President of the American Board of Endocrinology (AACE). They do a lot research in the practice, mostly for diabetes.
The labia thing it’s funny to me. It doesn’t cause any problems & it’s so normal looking that Drs never say anything about it. One Dr told me that 1 in a million women have it and I shouldn’t worry about it.
My testosterone is just a little high. If I remember 55 is the highest for a non-pregnant woman? Mine is 57......I still don’t believe it because of all the facial & body hair I have. I’ve been doing laser in my face since December & will have a last treatment next week. The best thing for PCOS is prenancy because it relieves a lot of symptoms.............isn’t fun to be a woman?
