Carolinne,

Hi, my name is Corinna and I am 22-year old living in California whom also has CAH!  I know how hard it is, after my pediatrician/endocrinologist said he could no longer see me anymore due to the fact that I was no longer a minor!

I was originally born in England, where medical is free, but when I moved here at age 3, I was  enrolled under the California Children’s Services Program, which gave me the opportunity to receive free medical coverage only related to CAH!  It expired for me at the age of 21 and I went from having free medical, treatments, prescriptions, 24-hour emergency access, etc. to having nothing.  I still don’t have medical coverage for this condition and it’s sad for people like us who can’t receive that type of help.

I am currently receiving my medication on a regular monthly basis, however, the costs out of my pocket per month range up to $250.00, which for me is extremely expensive!

I haven’t been able to find medical insurance yet, but when I had it at my last job approx. 2 years ago, I still had the CCS coverage, but needed a new endocrinologist/general physician.  I found one under Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO.  I no longer have one anymore and truly do need one, but if you are not that financially capable, then have you tried Medi-Cal, they might accept you in too!

This might not be much help, but in my eyes, every little effort counts.  Good Luck to You!!!
