MelanieHi! My name is Melanie, and I have a 6 week old son, Lane. Lane’s newborn PKU test showed an elevated level on his CAH test. From what I understand, a normal level on this test is 0. His newborn level was 45. So we had him tested at 2 weeks, and the level had gone down to 33. I just got those results today. The nurse told me that if he did indeed have CAH, his levels would be in the high 100’s and he would’ve been noticeably sick by now. We have to take him in the 26th to have blood drawn from his arm to test for 17-hydro-something. (I’m sorry, I can’t remember exactly what word she used.)
My question is: Does anyone know what would make his test results come back elevated? I was on terbutaline for 10 weeks with this pregnancy, I had to be on magnesium sulfate, and I had two steroid injections about 2 1/2 weeks before he was born.
Any ideas?Thank you all so much!
