DebbiWI know that this test has added some "angst" to the first few weeks with your little boy. Hopefully, future tests will show he is fine. I wish I had some warning before my son became ill. We had the Newborn screening that included CAH, but it took too long to be run and he became very ill. While it was alluded to earlier, there is a version of CAH that is not as high risk at birth. It is often detected after accellerated growth along with other premature symptoms of coming of age. While that is not life-threatening, it is still important to begin a regimin of medication to prevent that. However, there have been babies with salt-wasting CAH that went undetected for up to a month!
You also mentioned that the older sibling was fine. That is quite normal as well. My oldest does not have CAH either.
Please let us know how things go. I hope for good health, but we’ll be here as a community if the results show otherwise.
