Hi Lisa,

I am 38 and was diagnosed with CAH at 7.  I have been on various steroid replacement therapy throughout my life.  Living with CAH is fine if you keep on the medication and watch for signs of stress and how your body reacts.

You should be seeing your endocrinologist on a yearly basis, at least that is what I do at this age.  Since you were not diagnosed until 33, I figure you do not have a severe case of CAH and perhaps do not require steroid replacement, but that is for your doctor to determine based on blood work.

As a woman with CAH you can have children.  I have a 2 year old daughter who is CAH fee and I am now pregnant with my second child.  I would advise both you and your husband have a genetic screening by Dr. Maria New in NY to determine the likelyhood your child would have CAH.  If your husband is not a carrier, your children will only be carriers and not affected by CAH.

Anyway, good luck with your doctor visit.  Look after yourself.

Dawn.
