Question for Deb L (and anyone re: low dose of Cortef)
Jul. 28th, 2002   11:17pm

Hi Deb,

I have been visiting this message board for years, just haven’t been able to post as much lately. I always love to read your posts.

When I read your reply to Kim Ropars, it struck a chord with me and I would love to ask you a follow-up question. Has your son typically been on a low dose? hydrocortisone?

The reason I ask is that my son (now 4) seems to do best on a lower dose (around 10mg/m2/day). However, his endos do not like to see him at that dose. According to them (we have had 3 now) that is way too low of a dose. He is currently at about 13 mg/m2/day and his levels all show oversuppression (17OHP <10). He also is overweight (gained 10 pounds in 6 months during all the dose increases). His growth has been fine; but I wonder how reliable that is since we really don’t know if he should be growing more.

Sorry for the long post. I have posted on this topic so many times before people are probably sick of it. I just am always searching for others with kids who seem to do well on low doses.

Thanks in advance,

Chris
