hi chris

what kind of cah does your son have?  my husband and my son have cah, at this time my son is on no meds and my husband only takes 5mg of predinsone.  he has been on other meds, but seems to be very happy on the predinsone.  the last doctor that he has seen said that as long as he feels well that he wasn’t as concerned about the number.  my husband was over treated over the years and has short statue and bad osteoporosis of his bones.

i know that the peds endo here likes to treat the number not the patient.  so he had my son on cortef to begin and when his numbers got to low i got them to take him off the meds.  i know that my son has fallen from 75% on the growth chart in height just above the 25%  (about 1-11/2 inches)  so i understand the concern for proper height.  it is very important for the doctor to get the meds right, too much short, and bad bones, too little short again with lots of other problems.

have you ever seen dr. new in new york.  the reason i ask is because i believed my son was being over treated also.  in new york they said that they like to keep the 17ohp levels around 300-1000 and that is treated numbers.  so i would think that if your son’s was 10<  then he is over suppresed like you are thinking.

you can email me if you have questions tjudson@charter.net

take care
