Anne-MarieThe CAH boys have regular genital exams anyways as often signs of premature puberty and changes show in the testicle size. CAH girls should not be having genital exams any more often than CAH boys really. Excess androgens for both show in the way of genital changes. It’s just one way of checking them--but it’s not first and foremost. Ashley has genital exams at least every six months on average. Certainly not every three months anyway.
So.... I wonder when we are finally going to have ultrasound exams as a matter of course. I guess that one is like expecting bone density scans to start happening for these kids any time soon also.
It would make complete sense to me to do ultrasound for girls and boys to examine the gonads/ovaries fromn time to time. Perhaps on the same day as hands and wrists are x-rayed?
Bone density scans 2 yearly?
