Most salt wasting CAH patients take cortef and florinef... (my children take cortef (hydorcortisone) and florinef because they have the classical salt wasting form of CAH). They eat salty foods.  Because it does not stop salt lost... it only helps.

The medication don’t stop the salt lost... it controls it somewhat.  The doctor needs to look at the type of CAH.  Most Addison’s patients take both florinef and hydrocortisone.

The florinef is a medicaiton that helps the salt retention.  The cortef helps control the hormonal levels and affects the salt retention. Both both medications are used in the United States for salt wasting CAH.

Some non-classical and simple virilizing CAH patients also take florinef.  Depends on the patients and plasma renin blood levels and the need for florinef medication.
