Welcome!

Congratulations on the birth of your son! My daughter with CAH is now 2years and 4 months old. I found this site when she was just one month old and the kind and caring people here helped me more than I can express. I want you to know that it does get easier. The meds become routine and we really only worry when she is sick. My best advise is to be prepared and then you can feel much more relaxed knowing you can handle what comes your way. First, make sure you have the injection of hydrocortisone and you know how and when to give it. (And don’t be afraid to give it. Down load the injection directions and keep them with the injection and in a binder along with other info you gather such as emergency room staff info, treatment consent forms for caregivers etc) Have plenty of infant advil, a thermometer to be given rectally is most accurate, tylenol suppositories (for when he’s vomiting with high fever, available at the pharmacy without a prescription.) some type of pedilyte drink (the popsicles are great for when they get older) and always have extra cortef around! Please ask any questions you have and share your hard times as we can all relate to them and will understand. Know that your son can live a long and happy life! Do lots of research and ask lots of questions with his doctor. And don’t forget to enjoy your precious son! Take care! Julia
