Mary,

I don’t know anything about kidney reflux disease I am sorry to hear he’s having this too, but I know that you are strong. You can find the strength to do what is best for your son. He is so fortunate to have you as his mom! Please demand the injection kit. Don’t leave the office until you have a prescription or find a doctor who will prescribe it. Our first endo wouldn’t give it to us either. I asked him several times and his response was "when she’s older we’ll get it." Older??!! Why wait? We have given the injection 5 times all within the past year, but we don’t fool around anymore. If she’s not doing well with a high fever we just give it because usually something in her upset stomach is going to prevent the oral meds from working. Once before we had given the shot and we were still nervous to give it, she had a high fever all night long it would go up and down and I was scared, that was the first time we gave the shot at 5am finally! I wished we had done it earlier as she responded extrememly well. Now we just give it and rest easier. My daughter has never been in the hospital for anything yet, we do call the doctor after we give the shot but as long as she’s been able to keep fluids down and her fever comes down, and she’s doing well then we don’t bring her into the hospital. Most of the injections have been for various 24 hour fevers. Once we had to give it when she and another girl collided. My daughter started getting lethargic and vomited. Yes, it was scary. My husband took her to the ER but ended up giving the shot himself while he waited for them to figure out what CAH is. This is why it’s so important to have the injection. I have rambled on but I want to say ho happy I am that you found this site. Ask many questions and be prepared! Then you won’t be so scared. Blessings! Julia
