Jude,

I hope that your child is doing better. How scary. Yes Cortef is a brand name for hydrocortisone. It is the preferred brand here in the states. For the adrenal crisis, what did they give her at the hospital? Was it IV hydrocortisone and saline solution? Did they test electrolytes, sodium and glucose? My daughter is 2 years old and is on Cortef and Florinef. She does not need the sodium anymore. She has been doing fine. We do salt her food and offer it and make it available especially on hot days. How often are your daughter’s hormone levels tested to make sure she is on the correct dosage? Here it’s every 3 months and they test for renin(which florinef especially helps with) androstenedione, 17ohp and testosterone. What were her last levels? Please try to get more Cortef on hand for emergencies and several injection vials of the cortef(solu Cortef). If your daughter is vomiting and she can’t keep down the oral cortef the injection could save her life. What are your daughter’s dosages of Cortef and florinef? Julia
