hi chris

good luck at the doctor.

my son has non classic cah.  he has been off his meds since may.  he is 10 months old.  i felt as if the doctors had him on too much meds from the beginning.  so i took him to see dr. new in new york she is really nice, and she knows more than most endos.  i had already talked our dr. in to weaning off of the hydro before we went to new york and dr. new conformed that my son didn’t need the meds.

my husband also has cah, and has been way way over treated over the years so i know all the problems that come about from over treating.  that is way i am such an advocate for lower does as long as they are doing fine. (i mean if they need the meds that is one thing)  there is an article that talks about 17-ohp levels and what is normal for a child with cah.  the article suggest that a normal range for a patient with cah is 500-1000.  i don’t know if you know what your son’s last numbers were and alot of endo try to make them normal based on a noncah patient (50-200) which is too low or over suppression for the cah patient.

best of luck with your dr.
