To Carol. Mis-post, 21 not 17
Aug. 13th, 2002   12:10pm

OOPS! Sorry Carol. I mis-posted. I didn’t have Jack’s folder at my desk and I goofed. (Maybe I was getting the 17 from 17OHP). Jack does have 21 hydroxylase. It was confirmed by genetic testing.

Thanks for the thoughts though. Wouldn’t that be nice if we actually found an answer.

Jack’s appoint yesterday went pretty o.k. His new endo is good about listening to my concerns. We had a blood draw today and we’ll see how the levels are now. I am getting close to trying the 3am dosing that others have found to be successful.

On good days I look on the bright side - his height growth is still good (staying along 50-60%), he is healthy (still no crisis) and we don’t suspect prec. puberty. The only real complaint I have is weight (and now his b.p. is inching up). His bone age is also a little ahead of his chronological age, but not too bad.

This is just such a frustrating condition for a perfectionist mom. Mainly I feel bad because he is getting big enough now that he notices people’s comments. It breaks my heart. Also, he is starting to be too big for "little kid" clothes (e.g. his is in the largest size made of spiderman undies - it will kill him to go to boxers or plain whites. All his preschool friends are into character undies). I just have to keep my perspective.

Carol, Thank you again for your post. I always apreciate your input. I hope your son is doing well.
